Does it modify the armature structure?

It does not modify the armature structure whatsoever since it works with constraints. This allows for the best ratio between flexibility and compatibility, providing a more convenient animation experience with quick exporting and without breaking existing animations.

Does it affect the vanilla Rigify experience?

The features and enhancements are only available in the Armature Builder and do not affect vanilla Rigify.

Can it be utilized for character skinning?

No. Retargify is a control rig generator, so it requires existing skinning data for the character.

What if i don’t work with game armatures?

The plugin substantially improves the rigging experience, making it much more efficient and user friendly, so you can still benefit from it even if your characters are not intended for games.

Aditionally, it provides future-proofing with no extra effort, should you ever wish to use your animations for other purposes, like games.

Can others use the generated rig if they don’t own the plugin?

Yes. Rigs work independently of the plugin, and features like the baking tools are included, allowing users to benefit from them even without the plugin. However, they will not be able to modify the armature without having the plugin installed.

What is the license of the created armatures?

Since Retargify is an addon on top of Rigify, the license to distribute the armature remains the same. In other words, you own your armatures and have full rights to them.
